WARDA IS THE FOUNDER OF

HOUSE OF ARTS

House of Arts is a multi-use space and community arts initiative created to foster connections in the expansive Black arts community in Toronto and its surrounding cities. In November 2022, House of Arts presented BLACK EXCELLENCE, a 3 day performance series featuring new works from Black Toronto-based storytellers (film, music, poetry). HOA was started by Warda Youssouf when she found a gap for young, emerging Black artists (and non-artists) to explore and play. House of Arts is a space for artists to relax, to learn and to try something new. It’s a home base where you can expect a warm meal, a hot drink, and a safe place to expand your practice. In 2023, the House of Arts hosted two consistent events each month; for the BIPOC community- a writer's circle with an open mic and a film+networking nights.

Additionally, we Programmed an Acting program called Acting from the Ground Up between July to August for low income East African youth in the GTA. As well as, putting on the Hear the Horn of East Africa festival at Guild Park and Garden on August 31st,2023.
